15可唔可以教Belting(撐腔/強混聲唱法)?
(Riffs & Runs)?
17點樣先可以有自然嘅Vibrato(顫音)?

Vocal Course Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you’d want to know before enrolling — for anything else, feel free to WhatsApp us
1I’m a complete beginner and can’t read sheet music — can I still learn?
Absolutely. Most students start as complete beginners. Miss Jennifer Wong teaches from the fundamentals — breathing, posture and pitch — building up step by step, so no music theory background is needed to get started comfortably.
2What age can students start? Is there an age limit?
Students aged 4 and above can join. Children, teenagers, adults and seniors are all welcome — lesson content is adjusted according to age and vocal development stage.
3What’s the lesson format — 1-on-1 or group?
1-on-1 in-person lessons, small groups of 2-4 students, and Zoom video lessons are all available. Students can choose flexibly based on their needs and schedule, with both long-term and short-term course options.
4What style do you teach — pop only, or classical too?
Both classical and pop vocal training are taught, tailored to each student’s interests and goals. Classical technique focuses on fundamentals such as breath support, resonance placement, vowel modification and register transition; pop technique adds stylistic skills such as belting, riffs & runs, vibrato control, falsetto switching, dynamics and phrasing. Whether you’re preparing for an ABRSM/Rockschool singing exam or want to perform Cantopop, hymns or pop songs, the underlying vocal foundation is the same either way.
5Can you help prepare for grade exams or competitions?
Yes. Miss Jennifer Wong designs a personalised exam/competition training plan after assessing each student’s level, with mock assessments and targeted feedback. Students assessed as ready by the teacher have a 100% pass rate.
6How are fees calculated and paid?
Tuition is adjusted according to course level. Fees are paid every 4 lessons, due before lessons begin to confirm enrollment, with a receipt issued. Please WhatsApp for the latest fees and promotions.
7Where is the studio?
The studio is located at 12/F, Unit D1210, Block D, Waylee Industrial Centre, 30-38 Tsuen King Circuit, Tsuen Wan — near Tsuen Wan MTR Exit A. For students in other areas, Zoom lessons can be arranged with the teacher.
8How do I enroll or book a trial lesson?
Simply WhatsApp Miss Jennifer Wong (90237163) to enquire about lesson times, fees and trial bookings — she replies as soon as she sees your message.
9I’m often off-pitch — can I still learn?
Yes. Being off-pitch is usually linked to underdeveloped pitch perception and vocal muscle control. Through ear training, scale pattern drills and consistent practice with piano accompaniment, most students show clear improvement in pitch accuracy — being “tone-deaf” rarely means you can’t be taught.
10Why do I break or can’t reach high notes?
This is usually caused by an unsmooth chest-to-head voice transition, laryngeal instability, or excessive straining. The course builds mixed voice technique and breath support gradually, expanding your range step by step without forcing high notes and damaging your voice.
11My voice gets hoarse or tired easily when talking loudly — does that mean singing isn’t for me?
Actually the opposite — it’s even more reason to learn. Correct vocal technique reduces strain on the vocal cords and can improve hoarseness and vocal fatigue. The course also covers vocal hygiene and healthy voice habits to address the root cause, not just technique. If symptoms persist, an ENT consultation is also recommended.
12Do I need natural talent to learn singing?
No. Singing is a skill that can be trained systematically — vocal technique, pitch and rhythm can all be built through correct practice, not just talent. Miss Jennifer Wong adjusts the teaching pace to match each student’s vocal qualities and starting point.
13How much practice per week is enough?
10-15 minutes of daily breathing and vocal exercises is usually enough to see results — consistency and correct technique matter more than quantity; over-practising or practising incorrectly can actually tire the vocal cords. The teacher provides suitable practice material and amount for each student’s level.
14Can I choose songs I like to practise with?
Yes. The course offers a custom song-choice service, teaching Chinese and English pop songs, Cantopop, hymns and more based on each student’s level, interests and vocal qualities, with personalised vocal style analysis — never a fixed textbook only.
15Can you teach belting (strong mixed-voice technique)?
Yes. Belting is a strong mixed-voice technique commonly used for high notes in pop songs, requiring correct laryngeal control and breath support to sustain safely without damaging the voice. The course trains mixed-voice coordination gradually before introducing belting, avoiding students forcing their throat.
16How can I sing riffs & runs like the original singer?
Riffs & runs require solid pitch accuracy and quick vocal cord responsiveness. The course uses scale pattern drills and rhythmic breakdown exercises to gradually deconstruct the original singer’s riffs, then adapts them to each student’s own vocal qualities — not just memorising the melody.
17How can I develop a natural vibrato?
Natural vibrato comes from the rhythmic oscillation of the vocal cords and diaphragm muscles — it can’t be forced or faked, or it will sound unnatural. The course uses breath control and throat relaxation exercises to let vibrato emerge naturally at the right moments, adding emotional depth to a song.
18How can I sing with as much emotion as the original artist?
Emotional delivery requires more than technique — it requires understanding the story and emotional arc behind the lyrics. The course covers original-version analysis, dynamics and phrasing training, teaching students how to tell a story with their voice, not just hit the right notes.
19I keep running out of breath mid-phrase on long lines — what can I do?
This is usually related to breath support and breath-mark planning. The course teaches diaphragmatic breathing and phrase-breathing technique, helping you learn where to take a quick breath without breaking the song’s flow.
20Can you also teach mic technique for singing, recording or performing?
Yes. The course includes mic technique training — controlling volume at different distances, avoiding popping sounds, and coordinating with stage presence — ideal for students interested in busking, performing or recording covers.
